Grades 2-5 have started back up in typing club! We created a new typing club account and would love it if the kids could access it at home 2 nights a week for some extra practice! Typing skills are a must in todays world, and it will definitely help the kids in the classroom. To log into the site, go to..... stoveprairie.typingclub.com The kids use their 5 digit school account number and then the password (they should know it, but if they forgot, they can contact me as a reminder). Here is a shot of the 2-3 class working in typing club...check out their fantastic form with both hands on home row! AWESOME! We also shared our slideshows with one another today! We learned some interesting things about each other, but most of all, that we all love puppies, kittens and pizza :) The kids can log into their google accounts at home and share them with you too. Some of them are incomplete, but then, we had Eco Week in there and we wanted to move on to some other activities, so they can work on them on their own time if they would like to complete them. They learned to navigate google slides though and they did a great job! Have a fabulous weekend!
P.S. Stove Prairie's schoolpay account has been set up if anyone is interested in making donations to our school! Please check it out and share with any alumni you might know! Thank you! https://www.schoolpay.com/pay/for/Stove-Prairie-Elementary-Donations/IdDww

We have some new library books on display and the kids have checked out about 2/3 of them. The PTO has generously donated $150.00 to our library for books, so we have even more new books on the way! Nothing is better than to see a child excited about a book, and that's just what I've witnessed the last week as the kids have explored the "New to our Library" cart with total enthusiasm! I can't wait to see their faces when even more books line those shelves on the cart! Huge thanks to the PTO and all who participate in helping to raise money for our school...this is what it's all about!
This week the 2/3 class and the 4/5 class worked on their google slideshows. They are sharing some things about themselves while learning how to navigate google slides. They have practiced logging in with their google accounts (with their school emails), and we will continue to build their knowledge of the google platform. We plan to start typing club when the kids return from Eco Week, as well as share our slideshows, so stay tuned! The K/1 class continue to get familiar with their computers by logging on and off, and playing mouse games for motor control. Meanwhile some of the mountain school staff, along with other PSD employess, attended a Lego Robotics class on Saturday to learn more about the Lego Mindstorm EV3 Robots and Robotics Clubs, and here are a few of the pictures from the fun! We spent the day coding, exploring and creating and it was a great afternoon! I'm hoping to explore some of these concepts with the kids soon, and maybe even create our own Lego Robotics Club in the future, so stay tuned!
We had our first session on the computers today...it took some learning, but the kids picked it up pretty quickly and then they were off and creating! Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 worked on Google Slide shows while the K-1 class worked on muscle memory playing mouse control games.
We will be working hard to improve our typing skills and our knowledge of the computer, so stay tuned for future links the kids can enjoy at home! In the meantime, here is the link for the K-1 class if they would like to continue playing the mouse games at home....minimouse.us. Thanks for dropping by! |
